This was an exciting day! My sweet Becky picked me up – she had to go to the store to buy Goodies for the 4th birthday of X and asked if I wanted to go. Being the bargain shopper I am, I suggested to stop by DeReuze Gourmet Imports first where despite the fancy name you can get the best goodies for a very low price! I was so excited going into DeReuze thinking “Oh goodie, it’s sample time” just to realize that I cannot sample anything
After that I made her go to Aldi where she got the fixins for the birthday cake and I went on a little shopping trip myself. I haven’t been to a store in a while so I went a little crazy but I also bought stuff for my “mushie foods” phase, for example mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes (instant but for the small amounts, making it fresh wouldn’t make sense), lots of tuna in pouches – plain, lemon, sweet and spicy and some other things. They also had a Thai cookbook for $4.79 that I couldn’t resist. Thai always has a lot of fresh proteins – shrimp, beef, pork – so I think that’s something to look forward to.
Chuck had another late day at the office so I got into wife mode again. I had bought some frozen fried rice at Aldi but when I opened it, it really didn’t look like a “man sized” portion for Chuck. So I microwaved it, and chopped up 2 stalks of leek, some ham, scrambled and egg and then added the microwave portion. It is really hard to cook if you are not allowed to taste it. Just stirring and putting the spoon away without licking it off is so counter intuitive for me, that my hands actually don’t want to do it. That said, I still made it and cooked it up and since Chuck ate the whole pan, it must have been decent good! The smell was certainly appealing. I actually got hungry myself and allowed myself an extra protein beverage.
Now, just the walking around the stores tuckered me out majorly. Becky laughed and said that it’s like getting Grandma out of the home for a day. I went to bed at 9.30pm again and I slept through the night. Now, if I was a baby my Mommie would be so happy. I am just so tired and as I start to feel better and want to be more active, my body just screams for calories. I am usually under 500 calories, even with my extra coconut water, and it is simply not enough to get going and active. I am planning on calling the nutritionist or dietitian on Thursday to see how this is going. Last time she disappointed me, they have a second person on staff, maybe I’ll try her.
