Back at work!


First day at work and it worked out great. Thank God I was really busy, so I could focus on that – mainly the update of the InkFormulation manual. I had a little discomfort because the waistband of my jeans was near one of my incisions. Well, with a little luck, the tapes will finally be removed on my post-surgery appointment at Grand Health Partners on 11/18. Two appointments (I initially thought 3), at 10 and 11am, with the dietitian and the surgeon/PA.

Otherwise, food worked out well, I basically had the usual, a protein shake for breakfast, hummus yogurt with oyster crackers for lunch, apple sauce as the afternoon snack and for dinner I had Bear Creek Split Pea Soup with half a Greek yogurt. The soup was OK, I think I made it a little too thick so it was a little pasty. I added the yogurt as sour cream and also added a little Sriracha to spice it up -otherwise I could have added a little more water I guess. I had some oyster crackers with it. I am always a little high on carbs but right now, I feel like there is so little I can eat in the “full liquids” family and it is all high in carbs.

I was never one to freak out about a particular source of calories – some stay away from fat, others from carbs but I always felt a calorie is a calorie. Maybe I have to change that? Well, something to take up with my dietitian at the appointment I guess. I should start and write a list with all my questions.

After work, I was home alone – awwwwweeeee. Chuck had an invitation from work to go to an event in Lansing with some co-workers. They only invited 4 from his office and he was one of them. I am very happy about his job, he seems to like it and they seem to like him. It seems like they are about to create a supervisor position for him, to supervise the payroll call center with office and everything which would be amazing. So proud!!!

I walked on the treadmill again, I am on 3mph and I have no problem with it at all. I can easily do 30 minutes at that pace without feeling exhausted or tired. I would say I am pretty much getting back to normal and if I lose a little more, I can actually start running again. I am a little stalled with weight loss over the last week but from what I read this is fairly normal at this stage but it still is weird. Again, they’ll probably tell me all about it at my appointment.

Day summary:

  • walked 30 minutes on the Treadmill @ 3 mph
  • 50 oz. of water (I am starting to feel like a fish)
  • 8 oz. of EASĀ  Premium Protein Vanilla with 2 oz. of orange juice and half a banana (16 g of protein)
  • 1/2 Dannon Greek yogurtĀ  mixed with 2 servings of Hummus (11 g protein)
  • Oyster crackers (1 g protein)
  • 1/2 cup of Cranberry Juice (to make my water tasty)
  • 1 cup Bear Creek Split Pea Soup (2 g protein)
  • 1/2 Dannon Greek yogurt (7 g of protein)
  • Oyster crackers (1 g protein)
